Rebirthing breathwork

Rebirthing is a specific breathwork method, invented and developed by Leonard Orr. The breathwork process releases the emotional, negative charge out of cellular memory. The process causes integration of unresolved emotional, physical, mental and spiritual energies.  The primary result is an experience of clarity at the very core level.  The process empowers a person into choice and out of victimhood.

Origin:
Its founder, Leonard Orr, in 1970, while taking a long, warm bath, started having flashbacks from the time he was an embryo. The imperative need to immediately get out of the water, along with a suffocating sensation, was the signal for further experimentations, which started in warm water and resembled the natal state. This is the reason why Leonard Orr named this technique Rebirthing. Later, the term Breathwork was added, as in essence it is a technique based on breath.

Method:
Rebirthing starts with lying down, relaxing and breathing. Long and careful attention to the relaxed breath will reveal a many layered pattern of inhibitions and exposes our unconscious patterns of defense against pleasure and aliveness. When these are noticed (no longer unconscious) we can neutralize and integrate these patterns of past-time tension by breathing through them with present awareness of safety. It offers a gentle effective way to reveal the latent pristine state of body and consciousness which we all experienced in the pre-natal time and which was pushed back by the shocks of birth and early relationship. Our relationships can be clear and complete only when we dissolve our resistance to having that ideal condition. Unconscious birth memories bar the way as a closed portal on the path back to bliss. Breathwork will help you find the key to unlock that door.

Specific Breathing Technique:

  • Conscious connected circular, rhythmic energy breathing.
  • No pauses or gaps between the breaths.
  • The inhale is active, the exhale is passive.
  • Consciously pull the breath in, and deliberately let the breath out.
  • Breathe in and out through the same channel (that is in and out the nose or in and out the mouth.)
  • The lesson is to breathe Energy, not just air.

The technique, supported by breath, connects us to the main strength inside us, which is life. All the records that need to be processed, surface and what follows is an immediate realization of the issues that take us backwards instead of forward. All these issues are released through breathing. The pattern of breathing is the natural breath (something we tend to forget in the hustle and bustle of everyday life) and which manifests more clearly at night, when we are fast asleep.

Objective:
Rebirthing is the process of realizing our True Self and a tool to release our true nature, clearing every illusion and false image we have unconsciously created about our self and which prevents us from enjoying a full, happy and loving life.

Working:
The breath acts as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious, between the mind and the body. You can control your breathing consciously by, for example, pranayama breathing exercises, but if you don’t think about your breathing for a whole day, you still are breathing. Rebirthing works on the principle that there is a direct connection between mental and physical well being and the openness of the breathing. Relaxing and releasing the breath dissolves tension in both the body and the mind.

Physiological explanation:
Through breathing continuously without break, your body takes in more oxygen than usual, which changes the CO2 level in your brain. You enter a self-induced trance state (a non-ordinary state of consciousness) where memories, pictures, emotions or body sensations can surface to be reviewed, released and integrated. The power of rebirthing is that in this state you are the experiencer as well as the observer of past incidents that may emerge, enabling you to release and re-interpret what happened in the past from a newly conscious and fresh perspective. Through conscious connected breathing you accumulate life force (prana, chi, ki) which starts to move freely through you body (experienced as tingling, energy rushes or waves). This loosens up stored blockages held in your four-body energy system (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual), thus working on all four levels at the same time. Experiences may vary every time. The spectrum of experiences range from physical sensations of pain or pleasure, release of body blockages through heat or energy movement to release of emotions (sadness, anger, etc.) There may be realizations of dysfunctional thought patterns or new thought connections and insights, and deeply spiritual or energetic experiences.

The 8 biggies of human trauma:
Leonard Orr, in 1967, became internationally famous in psychological circles for presenting the Personal Law concept, which controls a man’s life more than any other belief, in an 8 point package for people to think about because a little understanding of each one accelerates emotional healing, self-knowledge, and spiritual growth beyond measurement.

The 8 points of Human Trauma are:

  • The birth trauma – including prenatal and infancy trauma
  • The parental disapproval syndrome
  • The misuse of the power of the mind – the specifics negatives
  • The unconscious death urge
  • Karma from past lives
  • School trauma
  • Religion trauma
  • Senility

The 8 biggies of human trauma and learning the basic practice of affirmations with the emotional response technique have become popular as the basic psychology of Rebirthing Breathwork.

The 8 Biggies of Spiritual Purification:
These are perhaps the cure for the 8 biggies of human trauma. The Practices, when done daily, have a tendency to clear the mind and body of “stuff” as fast as it surfaces and keep us in the joy of life and productivity.

The 8 points of Spiritual Purification are:

  • Mind: changing negative thoughts into positive thoughts as they flow through our consciousness, reading scriptures, and doing Mantra Yoga.
  • Earth: Good vegetarian diet, exercise, career of loving service, etc.
  • Air: Conscious Energy Breathing
  • Water: Bathing twice per day and drinking pure water.
  • Fire: Discovering and using the healing power of fire
  • Love: Spiritual community and political responsibility
  • Rest: Doing nothing but feeling God or creative thinking.
  • Grace: trusting Life- feeling God’s love and healing energy

Chakra Healing

“Chakras may…..be described as subtle centres of operation in the body ……or Principles which constitute the bodily sheaths.”              Sir John Woodroff

“The chakras are specialized energy centres which connect us to the multidimensional universe. The chakras are dimensional portals within the subtle bodies which take in and process energy of higher vibrational nature so that it may be properly assimilated and used to transform the physical body.”
Richard Gerber in Vibrational Medicine

“The Chakra system is a seven-levelled philosophical model of the universe. …..A chakra is a centre of organisation that receives, assimilates and expresses life force energy.”     Anodea Judith

“Every thought and experience you’ve ever had in your life gets filtered through these chakra databases. Each event is recorded into your cells…” Caroline myss

The chakra system is one of the most integrative models of life, teaching us how to live our lives in the most potential and productive way. If we are aware enough, the knowledge gently nudges us to balance ourselves, to look into the aspects of life which we have been missing. This is a map of journey towards healing and integration, towards reaching our higher potentials. This is done by taking into account, and by laying importance to the mundane as well as sacred or higher. Everything is sacred, everything is important. For few of us have the privilege of going and living a secluded life in the ashrams, devoting life to contemplative and esoteric goals. The rest of us, living our fast paced life, in the midst of all the chaos and noise, have to find our footing, so that we don’t get shaken by the storms and strong winds of life.

In layman language, chakra means a disc, while seen from the metaphysical; they are a series of circular energy centres in and around body. The function of the chakras is to spin and draw in this energy to keep the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health of the body in balance.

The chakra system is intimately connected with the endocrine system.

Emotional Freedom Techniques

EFT is easy, effective and produces amazing results.’ Donna Eden

“EFT offers great healing benefits.”  Deepak Chopra, M. D.

“EFT is at the forefront of the new healing movement.”   Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. Author of The Biology of Belief

EFT is a very simple and quick method for healing any kind of pain, be it physical or emotional, or you can use it on any other issue that you are dealing with.

EFT deals with the energy system of the body, by tapping on 12 meridian points. It is a kind of ‘psychological acupuncture’ without the use of needles. Instead of needles you use your finger tips and the best thing is you can do it yourself. Once you understand the concept, and know the sequence (which is very simple), you can use it on virtually anything.

The discovery statement of EFT says:

“The cause of all negative emotions is a Disruption in the body’s energy system.”  (Gary Craig, creator of EFT)

Since everything in this whole universe is pure energy, and since we, the microcosm, are just a reflection of the macrocosm, we are also made up of energy. So all those recurring negative thoughts and limiting core beliefs, over a period of time, become engrained in the energy system of our entire being.

And physical pain and disease are intricately connected to negative emotions. Health problems create feedback – physical symptoms cause emotional distress, and unresolved emotional problems manifest themselves through physical symptoms. So, the body’s health must be approached as a whole. You cannot treat the symptoms without addressing the cause, and vice-versa.

Hence, there is a disruption to your natural energy flow. These “disruptions in the body’s energy system” keep triggering the same negative thoughts and emotions over and over again.

EFT works to clear such disruptions and eliminate the resulting emotional response or intensity to restore emotional harmony and offer relief from physical discomfort. Once the distress is reduced or removed, the body can often rebalance itself, and accelerate healing.

Studies done at no less than Harvard Medical School verify these assertions. Research done at the prestigious university during the last decade found that the brain’s stress and fear response – which is controlled by an almond-shaped part of your brain called the amygdala – could be lessened by stimulating the meridian points used in acupuncture, acupressure, and of course, tapping.

So, how can the Emotional Freedom Technique help?

The energy imbalances can be corrected by tapping on certain parts of the body, known as meridians. When we tap on these specific points while briefly focusing on our problem, the energy disruptions are released.

The tapping sends pulses through the meridians and rebalances the energy flow within.

Whenever we are faced with a trauma, it often leaves with scars in the energy body. Apart from these, sometimes our inner self is so bruised and wounded that just looking at ourselves gives us immense pain. In order to save ourselves from that pain we often resort to masking it or start living our lives in denial. EFT helps us in acknowledging and accepting those parts. When we say the basic statement,

‘even though, I am …….(feeling/having e.g. physical pain or something else)

‘I deeply and completely love myself.’

Or you can add

‘I choose to heal and integrate that part of me’;

We choose to honor and acknowledge that part.

Simply being aware and acknowledging helps us in getting through all those layers of denial and ignorance and finally we are able to go past them.

In short, when we accept ourselves fully, our pains, our flaws, the good and the bad, the real integration starts taking place. We meet our real ‘authentic self’.

Past Life Regression

Whats is past life regression

Past Life Regression is a technique that uses the basis that we are eternal beings or souls who carry forward experiences through life times. As eternal beings, we experience physical life on earth various times. As souls everything is just an experience to learn certain lessons in the earth school. The ultimate lessons that we need to learn are compassion and acceptance.

Whether we learn these lessons to evolve or to sort out some issues of our daily life, Past life Regression is a wonderful technique that can help us. In this technique, hypnosis is used to create a trance (so as to keep the conscious mind aside) to reach the subconscious which is the storehouse of all the memories.

The knowledge and research on Past Lives is not a new concept. Yog Sutras of Patanjali also mention this in verse 3.18

3.18 Through the direct perception of the latent impressions (samskaras) comes the knowledge of previous incarnations.
(samskara saksat karanat purva jati jnanam)

This knowledge of past samskars and the ability to heal them (or in Yog terminology, ‘roasting of seed samskars’) is something that helps one to move ahead.

Though self awareness through knowledge of past lives is a very old concept. Buddha also got enlightenment when he went through many of his past lives and resolved them one by one. It is a well known fact that where ever light of awareness falls, the darkness of ignorance disappears. We might be facing a lot of demons in our day to day life. Our fears, phobias and self limiting beliefs and blocks (whether known or unknown) keep us from living our lives to the fullest potential.

Past life regression is a beautiful tool to resolve the issues which have no answer if we go by our conscious mind. Subconscious is indeed a treasure house which can resolve majority of our problems. When you do deep and intense meditations, there comes a time when you automatically regress to the past. But yes, just visiting the past, knowing a story will not solve any purpose. You must resolve it, you must heal all the wounds. You must undo all the oaths, commitments if any, undo the wrong decisions, wipe out the guilt and see things from the perspective of the soul.

One of the major benefits of going through past life regression, is that we become aware of our role in the greater scheme of things. We become aware of the reason why someone is behaving in that particular way. When we become aware of our own faults and misgivings, the focus of blame starts shifting. Forgiveness  and compassion becomes easy. True meaning of Karma is not just cause and effect, but how to get out of the vicious cycle of ‘give and take’ by deciding to come out of loop.

Typically, the therapist guides the client through the significant events of the lifetime, through the death experience, and then a “life review.” This is where the purpose of that lifetime, the lessons learned, and decisions made are examined from a higher, spiritual perspective. We particularly look at what is most important about that prior life in terms of the client’s current personality and situation.
Another  major thing that I find about going though past life regression is the time, which is called ‘life between lives’. When we become aware of the last dying thoughts, the decision to set things in order, we own the responsibility. And the beautiful thing is that there is no compulsion, no remorse. It is in the total and complete acceptance of our being, with the unconditional love of the Masters, that we take our decisions, write our life scripts and choose the main players in the field. It makes us aware that we are not mere puppets in the hands of some cruel God, who takes pleasure in our sufferings, but that there is a benevolent force who just wants us to be happy.

Death is not Final

Death is the biggest fear in life, but if you read the statements given by the people who had ‘Near Death Experiences’, you will be amazed to know that the other world beyond life has nothing to be afraid of. You get glimpses of that world during PLR sessions also. You become aware that you are not alone, that you always get chances, that you are always loved and accepted by the Masters.

Knowing your Life Purpose and life mission

When you go to the immediate preceding past life, you become aware of the circumstances and thoughts which made you choose this kind of life. You can then join all the loose ends and you start appreciating how everything has been leading to the present  and you start seeing the whole picture. There are no coincidences in life, you know it fully then. You see the patterns in your life. You become aware of roles being played by all the others. If you had always considered your mother as ‘cruel’, you become aware how by being harsh and cruel (in your eyes), she has been contributing to make you aware of the finer qualities.

When we choose our scripts, we also choose who will help us in learning our lessons. Our parents, our siblings, our spouses, we choose all of them.

Future Progression

Apart from learning from the past, we can also go the future and see whether something is in our ‘divine timing’ or not. There is wonderful work being done in this field by Dolorus Cannon. Dr. Michael Newton also is a pioneer in this field.

Through past-life regression, it’s possible to heal—and grow—your mind, body and soul, as well as strengthen your present-day relationships.

There are some newer areas in which past-life therapy is being applied as well, that are quite exciting and rewarding. Rather than going after traumatic or troubling memories, they focus on positive experiences. These areas include:

  • Accessing strengths and accomplishments from prior lifetimes that can be brought forward to increase confidence and effectiveness in the present
  • Re-experiencing a happy, successful lifetime; this can bring a sense of balance and peace when undergoing difficult times, fortifying us to work through our temporary difficulties
  • Clarifying direction and life purpose by viewing one’s blueprint for this lifetime
  • Finding prior lifetimes shared with current loved ones, bringing a great sense of reassurance that we are indeed never parted from those we love
  • Accessing the wisdom, peace and guidance that is available from the “interlife,” (spiritual realms between lifetimes) where our higher mind and/or guiding ones can assess our progress and give direction to us for our current lifetime
  • Strengthening the clarity of the spiritual nature of our existence.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy used to create subconscious changes in a person. These changes can be in the form of thoughts, behaviours etc.

Since the 1950s, Dr. John Kappas, a Psychiatrist of repute in the USA, did a lot of research on the methods of Dr. Milton Erickson to determine how he was able to help people heal the conditions of thought, emotion, energy or physical body. Dr. John Kappas helped bring ‘Hypnosis’ to the realm of science, by explaining and simplifying the ‘Hypnosis’ phenomenon, and its use in helping and healing individuals. He indeed helped cure/heal persons.

Definition of a hypnotherapist

Dr. John Kappas, wrote and defined the profession of a hypnotherapist in the Federal Dictionary of Occupational Titles:

“Induces hypnotic state in client to increase motivation or alter behavior patterns: Consults with client to determine nature of problem. Prepares client to enter hypnotic state by explaining how hypnosis works and what client will experience. Tests subject to determine degree of physical and emotional suggestibility. Induces hypnotic state in client, using individualized methods and techniques of hypnosis based on interpretation of test results and analysis of client’s problem. May train client in self-hypnosis conditioning.”

Hypnosis is usually considered an aid to psychotherapy (counseling or therapy), because the hypnotic state allows people to explore painful thoughts, feelings, and memories they might have hidden from their conscious minds. In addition, hypnosis enables people to perceive some things differently, such as blocking an awareness of pain.

Benefits of Hypnosis?

The hypnotic state allows a person to be more open to discussion and suggestion. It can improve the success of other treatments for many conditions, including:

  • Phobias, fear and anxiety
  • Sleep disorders
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Post trauma anxiety
  • Dealing with grief and loss
  • Pain management
  • Dealing with unwanted habits such as smoking, overeating etc

How does hypnosis work?

During hypnosis, your body relaxes and your thoughts become more focused. Like other relaxation techniques, hypnosis lowers blood pressure and heart rate, and changes certain types of brain wave activity. In this relaxed state, you will feel at ease physically yet fully awake mentally and may be highly responsive to suggestion. People respond to hypnotic suggestion differently.

Hypnotherapy as a process may involve few or all of the followings:

  • Understanding & Reframing the area of concern.
  • Relaxation and deep induction(deeply engaged in the words or images presented by a hypnotherapist)
  • Responding (complying with a hypnotherapist’s suggestions)
  • Feeding suggestions
  • Returning to usual awareness
  • Reflecting on the experience

Is hypnosis safe?

Hypnosis is totally safe, natural, and drug free, and there are no side effects whatsoever. In fact you will be in control at all times. Hypnotherapy has been recognised by the British Medical Association since 1955. The hypnotherapist cannot make you DO or SAY anything you do not want to do. If the fire alarm went off – you would bring yourself out of hypnosis immediately. While in hypnosis you are conscious throughout, feeling totally in control. It is like daydreaming whilst somebody talks to you. The only side effect is that it is highly relaxing!

Hypnotherapy can be used in conjunction with several other therapies namely Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Past Life Regression therapy etc. The use of CBT in conjunction with hypnotherapy may result in greater treatment effectiveness. A meta-analysis of eight different researches revealed “a 70% greater improvement” for patients undergoing an integrated treatment to those using CBT only.

Integrated clinical Hypnotherapy

This integrative approach utilises techniques to help with deeper problems that may not be able to be addressed with hypnotherapy alone (for example trauma or abuse), allowing the therapist to use their training and skills in psychotherapy to provide a supportive and empathetic therapeutic relationship. Special focus is laid on the spiritual side of issues.

Theta Healing

What Is ThetaHealing?

Abstract DNA

The Theta Healing technique was created by Vianna Stibal in 1995 during her own personal journey back to health and after she healed from a 9-in tumor in her leg.

Theta Healing is a profound healing technique that works at the energetic, atomic level of our existence; and has been described as the practical application of quantum mechanics. The ThetaHealing technique is a meditation technique and spiritual philosophy – not specific to one religion but accepting them all – with the purpose of getting closer to the Creator. It is a training method for your mind, body and spirit that allows you to clear limiting beliefs and live life with positive thoughts, developing virtues in all that we do. Through meditation and prayer, the Theta Healing Technique creates a positive lifestyle.

The Theta Healing technique teaches how to put to use one’s own natural intuition, relying upon unconditional love of Creator Of All That Is to do the actual “work.” We believe by changing your brain wave cycle to include the “Theta” state, you can actually watch the Creator Of All That Is create instantaneous physical and emotional wellbeing. It heals physically, psychologically and emotionally by focused prayer to the Creator. You discover how to use the Theta Brainwave to reach a level of consciousness that allows you to change your emotional, mental, spiritual or physical reality instantaneously. This is attained by theta meditation by being in that state and by tapping into the cosmic energy which is inside and around us, making use of and being in the state of theta brainwaves.

Theta Healing is an effective way to:

  • Activate the dormant strands of DNA and strengthen the telomeres to regenerate and revitalise the body;
  • Intense work on limiting beliefs: i.e. core, genetic, history and soul level
  • Working on the birth traumas
  • Have better and harmonious relationships
  • Get an answer to all the ‘why’s’ that you feel compelled to ask, be it an illness, grief or any other trauma

Or simply be in the blissful state which eludes one even after years of meditation
